A Tamesis Tale
Coming 2026
This is an imagining. An imagining that starts in 1798.
The literary canvas is the Thames between Oxford and Marlow.
For the most part, this is the Middle Thames stretch of the river between Pangbourne and Marlow, including the loop down to Reading past the mouth of the River Kennet.
Some of the characters’ names are real and some are not. The canvas is historical, but upon this canvas are fictional brushstrokes.
My ancestors and the other characters did not take part in the fictional events portrayed. They may or may not have spoken the variable dialects which flowed through Berkshire, Buckinghamshire or Oxfordshire.
I have been kind to the reader, by softening the dialect when spoken. If I were not to do so, then you might not be able to follow what they say!
Hydromancers may sit on a riverbank and gaze at the water. They may then divine some meaning from what they observe.
There is some hydromancing here.
Please sit down on that riverbank and imagine.
